Aug 2-5, 2015: Breitenbush (OR) Hotsprings, Retreat Basics
If this is you’re first time learning about LILA events, please visit our homepage first!
Join us for an amazing first time THREE night LILA retreat at the beautiful Breitenbush Hot Springs. With 3 nights and 4 days we will be dropping into the depths of personal creativity and transformation more than ever before.
“I attended LILA on a whim with absolutely no expectations–and was completely blown away. I opened up, dug down deep, made friends with my vulnerability, and began to accept myself and my growth process. I discovered new ways of playing with my challenges and my relationship to the Divine. Leif created a collage of exercises and activities, and each one stretched me in a different way. I laughed, cried, made deep connections, relaxed in a safe space, and gained valuable tools to begin this new phase in my life. I feel like a different person after Lila–I’m finally growing into myself and accepting my vulnerability and my power. Lila transformed my life.” –Zoe Lassen-Purser
Space is much more limited as we want to keep this retreat safe and intimate, so we are only inviting 16 people. Registration is being handled by Breitenbush Hot Springs. Please click here or call 503.854.3320 to reserve your space.
Exciting News! Wren La Feet & Antje Schaefer of Nomad Dance and Cocréa will be joining us as participants and guest teachers!
What’s “The Art of the Heart?”
“The Art of the Heart” is the art of being free to lovingly, powerfully and creatively express yourself in each moment. As there are often many fears and limiting beliefs that stand in the way of this aim, it’s a learned art. There are ideas, practices & skills to learn that can help one to feel safe, confident and equipped enough to be more authentically & creatively self-expressive —whether alone for self-knowledge, communing with loved ones or performing in front of an audience of strangers.
What’s the “Improv” Part About?
While we have dozens of creative activities, games and rituals planned for this retreat, we emphasize the improvisational arts (movement; song; theater; dance; writing; visual) as they allow participants to quickly venture into the rich, dark boundless territory of their hearts. The ’now-sourced’ creativity of improvisation also allows for accelerated growth in learning to trust yourself, others and the Magic of the Moment.
What’s The Plan for the Retreat?
In the spirit of improvisation and LILA (Divine Play), we try to practice what we preach and only plan as far as we can see. Once we know what kind of group we are (by meeting and learning more about the energy, background & intentions of the participants) we can then more expertly tailor our offerings to meet the group’s emergent needs. Sometimes we even co-create entirely new activities in the moment with the group that are then passed on to future LILA events!
After establishing a base-line level of safety, trust and group cohesion, our retreat spirals through three primary themes:
- Learning new principles & practices through a variety of inter-activities
- Deepening trust & connection to ourselves, others & ‘the Divine’ (however conceived)
- Taking increased ‘stretches’ into creative self-expression
